Getting Ready for Quilt Week

Just like springtime finally moving in --
Quilt Week rolls in to town.
Are you planning on being here to share in the fun?

It is a time when all the fabricy people around town have been prepping for, for some time...but it is fun to see all the last minute primping. Almost everywhere you go things are being put into place to share with all the quilters that visit us this week.

I feel lucky to have moved here and feel a part of the primping and prepping.

You'll find my own quilts on display at the Mayor's Office -- yes, you can go see where the business of running the city takes place and see quilts, too!

There's a special selection of my springtime quilts at Ephemera of Paducah --- and you may also want to add my 1 or more of my mini workshops to your schedule while you're here.

But, there are quilt and fiber art works going up everywhere...
one of my favorite places -- and a must for anyone looking for amazing hand-dyed fabric is the Jefferson St. Studio of Bob & Helene Davis -- The ladder here with Bob hanging quilts will have been put away by now, but oh, what a treat of color, fabric and BEADS awaits.

I also will be doing book signings at the Antique Mart on the corner of 4th & Jefferson on Friday & Saturday from 11-1. Stop by -- for behind this door you'll not only find wonderful antique quilts but amazing silk Kimonos --- wonderful, yummy fabric!

The Mayor's Art Club

I feel like I have lost a day... in travel... and I am writing this from suns out SoCA this wonderful Wed morning. Sure feels like it should be Tue.

On Monday I delivered and hung my quilts in the Mayor of Paducah's office. She has instituted a program called the Mayor's Art Club and submission are taken towards the end of the year and local artists are chosen to share their work. The exhibits change quarterly and there are two areas filled with art inside & just outside her office.

Mine will be up through this quarter.

There is award winning photographs from last year's Dogwood Festival in the outer room. My work is on display in her office itself.

Hope you enjoy my before & afters.
bare walls -- were soon to change
behind the mayors desk -- It's In the Air
the Ebbing series brightens up the nearby wall
across the room -- Wintergreen Path and Spring Green are making a showing
Desert Queen is there, too

as you enter you will see I-10 Watcher -- watching who comes & goes of course

So, if you're planning a trip to or through Paduah you may just want to stop in and check out the art and the building too, for it is pretty interesting all on its own. Wave hi to Mayor, too!

Me? I'm off to go meet up with my friend Joanell Connelly -- you know, just a morning out with the girls -- can't wait to see her!!

Rooty Toot!

In case you're wondering the title today is me -- ready to blow my own horn a bit.

I have been having workshops and sharing some of my quilts at the wonderful store Ephemera of Paducah,
but this week Kristin Williams the owner asked if I had any winter themed quilts that we could put up.

Well, I knew that I had a couple -- and much to my surprise I found 10 that would fit the category. So I loaded them up and headed over -- (such a long, long drive -- 5 minutes..darn I love Paducah!)

We ended up using 7 --- and I love how they looked against the beautiful teal walls there in the store... here are few pictures.

If you are around -- and have a chance to see these and the others I have there I know you'll enjoy it, and all the other amazing things Kristin has brought in.

My next workshop there is in January --- hope it doesn't get frozen out...
